Death Knight tanking article

It is probably a while before I should be thinking about tanking stuff, but WoW Insider have a nice article about Death Knight tanking with some suggested builds.

Escape!

Pysan has escaped the DK starter area and is just taking a walk into Orgrimmar to have a chat with Thrall. The guards are reacting badly to his presence, and throwing rotten apples and doing some sort of silence so he can't ride his mighty steed.

After trying Magic Runes I can say it works much better with ArcHud2 than RuneWatch. I can arrange the vertical rune bar slightly to the left of ArcHud so I can watch both runes and debuffs on the target. ArcHud2 has now been updated to show Runic Power, so that's good, although showing runes would be awesome. For now I'll stick with Magic Runes.

Archud and Runewatch don't play nicely together

I'm having trouble with ArcHud2 and Runewatcher. They do work on the same WoW, unfortunately they both want to have the bottom area of the screen to display things. Which means I can either keep track of runes, or diseases on my target, and I want to do both!

I've grabbed Magic Runes and will give that a spin to see if I can arrange it better with ArcHud2. Hopefully ArcHud2 will get an update to show Runes and then I'll be happy.

It's on!

Pysan, level 55 Deathknight, was created on the Friday 14th November. Thus far we've done some of the starter zone quests, nicked a horse and that's pretty much it. Pysan is a Tauren, the mighty and very large race, mainly because I like Tauren.

The Deathknight class initially appears complex, keeping track of rune cooldowns is hard when they are under the character portrait and I use Archud so watch the middle of the screen. Luckily I found Runewatch which moves the runes to the middle of the screen, so hopefully that will be a lot more useful.

I read this DK FAQ which also has a link to the DPS rotation for each tree, although this is probably at level 80. I also then read Lichborne: Talents for catching up which has a nice description of what each talent tree is generally for, so helped me choose Unholy because apparently it is good for AOE.

Currently I intend on playing Pysan when my main, Kam, has no rested XP. I am however still interested in using Pysan as a tank, with the Shaman that would mean I would have classes capable of healing, tanking, melee and magic DPS.
